" We stayed at Trethorne in early April this year, having booked a double for the night. Our visit was purely business, due to a meeting the next day close by in Devon. The booking was very simple and on arrival, check in was very friendly with an offer to help with our bags. Keys passed over, we set off for our room which was situated back down the drive, a very short walk from the clubhouse – room 16. The room was very spacious with tea/coffee making facilities, a huge flat screen TV, comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean. It soon became clear that this room was a family room as we found bunk beds within a small room beyond a door. Once settled, we made our way back to the clubhouse to have a look at the menu to assess dinner options. We dined a little later on what I can only describe as quite excellent fayre. My wife choosing the Steak and Ale pudding – me the Chicken & Pasta. Excellent portions, very well prepared and very tasty – all washed down with a couple of pints of the local brew. Throughout our one night visit, the staff were very polite, courteous and attentive, especially at dinner. Always ready to offer more drink and checking we were comfortable. The kind of service we like – they were not stood over us but were never too far away. Whilst I was in the area on business, I did not play golf on this visit; however, having checked with the pro shop, I asked if I could have a look around the golf before dinner. It really is a little gem. An undulating Parkland course with what appeared to be excellent greens – certainly for the time of year. I do wish I’d brought my clubs. There were a number of golfers out on the golf course who appeared to be having an excellent time, this was later determined in the clubhouse later on overhearing the speech presented by one of the visiting party – they wee delighted with the standard of the golf course. We really can’t recommend this place highly enough – especially for golf. It really was great value and definitely worth a return visit – this time with my golf clubs. "

" can only reiterate what was said in the April review. We also stayed in Room 16 and found it perfect, as we had a teenager staying with us. The purpose of our visit was for our son's wedding. The management bent over backwards to look after every guest at the wedding. The organisation was faultless and we had the best food we have experienced at weddings. All the staff were friendly and helpful, you can't always say that about bar staff, but here they were brilliant. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed superb breakfasts. We would recommend this hotel to everyone, whatever the function "

"After spending New years eve at Trethorne Golf club we thought this would make an excellent venue for our wedding reception and we were not let down. The attention to detail and helpfulness of John the manager was excellent. He put our minds at rest and helped create a memorable day for ourselves and our guests. The room where our reception was held was great, a split level room which was ideal for entertainment in the evening. We had an excellent menu and there was a choice which catered for all tastes. Presentation was spot on and everyone we have spoken to have said this was the best wedding reception they have ever attended. Finally we would like to say a big thank you to everyone at Trethorne for all their hard work in making our wedding day so fantastic!!! "
