We’ve been awarded GOLD by the Green Tourism Scheme
The ONLY London Conference Centre to achieve this accolade!
To celebrate we are offering all delegates a free bottle of belu water to nourish them on the way home. The bottles are made from corn oil, 100% carbon neutral, and for each bottle a donation is made to Water Aid.
The National Scrabble Championships 2010 were held at the Cavendish Conference Centre again this year, we have been the home of the Championships since 2004. It was won by a relative newcomer to the game Mikki Nicholson who has only been playing for 5 years via the internet beating 4 time winner Mark Nyman in the deciding 5th game.
In recent years Scrabble has had a resurgence and is no longer seen as the sole preserve of the bookish types and has developed a loyal following amongst the Hollywood elite. Mikki a cross dresser who competed in the final dressed in a PVC dress and pink wig certainly raised some eyebrows amongst the spectators but more than that dispelled the myth that you have to be born with tiles in hand and board under your arm. There’s hope for us all that coupled with the highest scoring word being “updates” a word that is within all of our grasps.
We at Cavendish Conference Venues would like to congratulate Mikki on his win and wish him the best of luck in the Causeway Scrabble Challenge which takes place in Malaysia next month..
