Whittlebury Hall Hotel And Spa

Whittlebury Hall Hotel, Spa and Management Training Centre, a venue synonymous with motor racing and located next to Silverstone racetrack, is delighted with the recent announcement that Silverstone will stay on the Formula One calendar and host the 2010 FIA Formula 1 British Grand Prix. The Hotel is located adjacent to the track and has enjoyed hosting Grand Prix teams and drivers since opening in 1999.

Hotels General Manager, Mark Jones said, "This is excellent news for all concerned. Silverstone Circuit is the spiritual home of the British Grand Prix and we at Whittlebury Hall are delighted to be the host hotel for almost all the teams and drivers. The most important thing was to secure a British Grand Prix itself, as there had been rumours that it could move away from Great Britain if a deal could not be reached.

Once the race was secure on the British sporting calendar, then the importance of the local area to motor racing and the advanced technology that supports it must be appreciated. With teams like Brawn GP - now to be Mercedes, Red Bull and Force India based within a few miles of the circuit and McLaren based in Surrey, it means that much of what makes F1 the worldwide sporting draw that it is, happens very close to the Silverstone Circuit. On top of this, the race and associated activity is said to bring some £60m into the regional economy and this boost is shared by businesses of all sizes and types."

Great Britain has been immersed in the motor industry since the earliest days and has created cars that have been the fastest, the most luxurious and the most coveted in the world and we have produced many of the world's most exciting and talented racing drivers - not least of which the last two world champions. It would have been a tragedy if that heritage and ongoing contribution had been overlooked in the negotiations."
