" I wanted a friendly hotel to stay in for three nights over New Year's Eve, and with two sons of 26 and 23, a driving range and golf course was a plus. We went up on the range every day, and the staff were the most generous and helpful I have ever encountered. We drove round the astoundingly beautiful golf course in a golf buggy (with its own lake) and had a great time. I wanted a gym and what was unusual was that it was almost as though I had my own private facility, since the staff were prepared to let me use it any time of the day or night. That is something I have never come across before. Carol Thomas, event co-ordinator, took great pains to see to all my requirements by phone and by email even before I booked the stay, as time away as a family is rare and we wanted to relax in good surroundings. Due to her management, the time at Draycote far exceeded our expectations. The rooms were lovely, large, comfortable and clean, and it was nice for us that she made sure to give us adjoining rooms. It was quiet and the views were peaceful. I felt pampered with the thick warm duvets, crisp white sheets and pillows. The bathrooms were huge and modern, and the hot showers were very refreshing. The staff made sure that we were plenty warm and snug enough in our rooms. Unusually for a hotel, the rooms were well lit and so were the bathrooms. We liked the modern, airy layout and unsusual design. The gentle music often playing in the entrance and restaurant area was very relaxing. We thought that the food was incredibly delicious, and though we had most of our meals in the hotel during our stay, we didn't repeat a single main dish as the menu was so varied! (I might mention that the food was so good that the boys just didn't feel tempted to visit any other eating establishments and I agreed!) We thought the staff were great, and there seemed to be a general culture of being really friendly and polite to guests. In particular we wanted to mention Michael Car the chef, his food was delicious and he took real care over us, even running out into the snow to pick fresh rosemary (the hotel has its own herb garden) for our delicious lamb shank one evening! One of my sons said that the hand-made chips were the best he had ever tasted, and we all thought that the portions were highly generous! We could hardly finish our food! The fine dining restaurant food well deserved its reputation, though the standard of the food was all fine dining really and quite a memorable experience. The deserts were very popular, we all enjoyed them at each meal! The attitude of the staff was very impressive, as they all seemed to care and showed a lot of flexibility towards us. They even remembered how I like my eggs in the morning, and often cooked fresh eggs especially for us, keeping them warm on a hotplate. I'd like to mention Sid who was very kind. I enjoyed working out in the gym, and we really had a good time both on the driving range as well as driving round the golf course in the golf buggy and marvelling at the fantastic grounds and lake. We found the driving range and golfing staff very generous, nice and helpful and we felt as though we owned the place, we were given so much freedom! Due to the hard work of the staff, they have ensured that the Draycote has now become our number one family hotel and we are definitely going to be revisiting many times, bringing more colleagues and recommending the Draycote most highly. It is unique to find a hotel that goes out of its way to look after its guests with such good facilities at such a reasonable price. Privately run, we got the feeling of a family atmosphere rather than an anonymous corporate establishment. Some of the other members of the staff that stood out for us were Ergul, who gave us the pleasure of his company, Dalia, Natasha, Beverley, and Claire. I'm sure there were a few more whose names we have forgotten!"
