The Benedict Rooms

The Benedict Rooms at Peterborough Cathedral are situated right in the heart of the City Centre in the beautiful and tranquil Cathedral Precincts.

Only a 10 minute walk from the main line station and close to a number of NCP car parks we also have limited onsite parking for the disabled, it is the perfect location for a conference with a difference - as there is nowhere else quite like it in Peterborough.

Completely separate from the Cathedral but with stunning views over the magnificent West Front, we have three well-appointed meeting rooms in our original building converted for this purpose - The Benedict Rooms - our smallest venue.

As well as this, we have two large rooms in our beautiful and recently renovated medieval building at the other end of the Precincts - not to mention venue capacity for up to 70 people in our breath-taking Becket Chapel with its marvelous high ceilings and stained glass windows - a truly unique offering for a conference in the heart of Peterborough!

Each of the rooms at the Benedict Rooms and Almoners Hall are fully equipped with videos, overhead projectors, flip charts and white boards and any technical equipment required for the Becket Chapel can be hired in with prior notice.

A full catering and hospitality service is also available at very competitive rates offering both hot and cold buffet or more formal dinner options for all types of business meeting or private events.

The Benedict Rooms is our smaller venue perfect for intimate team meetings, job interviews or smaller training sessions of around 8 to 10 people with 3 rooms to choose from.

The Almoners Hall is slightly larger with two beautiful and well equipped conference rooms suitable for meetings of up to 20 people in each. This building also has breakout and separate refreshment facility space as well as its own convenience facilities and hospitality staff.

The Education Centre is also an option for less formal meetings and is more suited for training, workshops or interactive and practical sessions and can hold up to 40 (theatre style).

Finally, The Becket Chapel is our largest venue holding around 70 delegates (theatre style) and benefiting from beautiful views over the Cathedral, large, light and airy rooms, competitive rates and a number of inspiring and novel talking points.

All venues can also be booked for private functions as well as conferences and our attentive staff have an abundance of experience at organising birthday and anniversary celebrations, wedding receptions and business dinners too.

With all venues, individual rooms or the whole building can be booked for either full or half days and our central location also allows guests to benefit from all local amenities nearby. We are within a 5 minute walk of the local Travelodge, as well as a number of other options for accommodation - not to mention a wide variety of restaurants, bars, a museum, bowling alley and leisure facilities within minutes of the Precincts.

The Benedict Rooms Get Bigger!

Just when you thought the offering at Peterborough Cathedral couldn’t get any better – the Benedict Rooms Conferencing Suites have now grown in size!


Previously only able to cater for a maximum of 40 people (theatre style), we are now able to offer capacity for up to 70 delegates in our latest venue opened up for conferencing -The Becket Chapel within the Cathedral grounds!


A beautiful converted Chapel with high ceilings and stained glass windows, the Chapel makes for an excellent and somewhat unusual conferencing space that is proving hugely popular.


Since opening for business at the beginning of July we have already attracted the likes of The Fabric Advisory Committee, Age Concern and also a brand new female only networking group for a working lunch with a hot meal and a glass of wine for 10 months of the year.


A much sought after location, Peterborough Cathedral has an outstanding catering and hospitality service available too, offering both hot and cold options for buffets or formal dinners for all your business functions and events.


We have four venues to choose from that are all of different sizes, styles and suit every budget but this latest offering at The Becket’s Chapel is the very best on offer for larger meetings and conferences.


The venue has one main large conferencing room in the former Chapel itself, as well as two smaller breakout or refreshment rooms attached, as well as its own kitchen and convenience facilities.
