Churchill Museum & Cabinet War Rooms
Day rates starting from:
£69.50
In August 1939, one week before war began, the Cabinet War Rooms became operational in a former government storage basement. In thirty-one rooms of this historic site, the most senior figures of Britain‘s government and its armed forces worked, slept and survived the ferocious air attacks on London during the Second World War. Since then, they have been kept exactly as they were before the lights were finally extinguished after six years of war. In addition restoration work in recent years has uncovered and opened up areas of the site that have been hidden since the Second World War. The venue now presents a unique opportunity to host functions in one of the most historic sites of modern British history. The redevelopment has also created three remarkable period rooms including: an auditorium for up to 140 seated delegates, housing state of the art audio visual equipment; the restored generator room - ideal for cocktail receptions, banquets and smaller presentations; and the Switch Room which is best suited for small dinners. Function guests can step back in time as they walk through the actual historic rooms, experiencing the atmosphere and conditions of those times and witnessing where Sir Winston Churchill took decisions crucial to the nations survival.
