Chequers Hotel

Located in the historical town or Newbury, a short distance from the M4, the chequers hotel is a perfect base from which to explore the Berkshire county, Thames Valley, and the beautiful Cotswolds which are not too far away. Our luxurious Hotel is in the heart of Berkshire, where the charm, magnificent surroundings, and the casual elegance of the grade two listed coaching inn meets modern boutique interior design sets this wonderful hotel apart.

Situated closely to many fabulous places to visit of outstanding natural beauty and attractions in and around Berkshire, from the grounds and Castle of Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey), to sports events at the Newbury Racecourse. The Chequers Hotel creates the ideal place for work and luxury.

Our Garden Suite is our largest room, situated on the ground floor towards the back of the hotel looking out into the hotels private garden. The Carnarvon Suite is connected to The Garden Suite opening the room up to make a beautiful large function room ideal for weddings and functions. The Carnarvon Suite can be used as its own function or meeting room, with a separate entrance along with access into the garden. The Oxford Suite is situated on the first floor as is the Nelson Suite, ideal for boardroom meetings, private dining or to be used for interview style meetings.

All of our Suites are situated within a short distance of break-out areas including a private dining section of the restaurant, boutique style lounge area and modern bar.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere to stay whilst away on business, during a conference, a weekend break or that extra special suite for your Wedding Night, we have a room for you. Our rooms offer a modern and contemporary feel, but many retaining the quirky layout of the old Coaching Inn.
