The Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill - Dudley is proud to announce that a number of their staff have won awards at the 2007 Black Country Hotel & Tourism Awards. The Black Country Hotel & Tourism Awards were launched last year and the awards ceremony for 2007 was hosted at the Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill Dudley on Friday 23rd March. 300 of the regions hotel & tourism industry gathered together for the ceremony which saw the hosts take home some of the top awards. The Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill Dudley entered 6 of the 13 categories and won a number of the top honours. `Winners in the recent Black Country Hotel & Tourism Awards will be aiming for further success this summer as they compete in the Heart of England Excellence in Tourism Awards.Gold winners; Dudley Canal Trust, judged the Best Small Visitor Attraction, Dudley Zoo, the Best Large Visitor Attraction, Molineux Conference Centre, Best Business Tourism Venue, Patshull Park Hotel, Best Small Hotel, The Copthorne Hotel, Best Large Hotel and Graham Worton, Best Customer Service Representative from Dudley Museum & Art Gallery, will be pitting their wits against hotels, visitor attractions and tourism personnel from across the Heart of England region after winning automatic entry into the regional awards run by Heart of England Tourism.The Black Country venues will be completing their applications over the next few weeks and judging will take place throughout the summer with winners announced later this year.June Hodgetts from Dudley Canal Trust said, "It was wonderful win gold at the Black Country awards, I`m sure everyone will fly the flag for the area against attractions from Shropshire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and the rest of the West Midlands".
