Sustainable Solutions for Royal Armouries (International) plc
Royal Armouries (Int) plc are thrilled to maintain their Gold Award for the sixth year running. RAI have continued to show their commitment to the award and our environment by seeking out ways they can be more sustainable.

When ‘A Greener Solution’ got in touch and proposed to RAI the opportunity of providing a gas supply that was not only zero carbon but that would also reduce their gas bill, they jumped at the chance. Zero carbon gas means that no carbon dioxides are generated in the production of the gas for the consumer market.

James Vincent explained that the situation is a ‘Win Win for RAI! Not only are we reducing our carbon footprint and increasing our green credentials, we are paying less for the privilege.’

Now the dream is that when the electricity supply is up for renewal they can do something similar!

RAI have also recently invested in new light boxes for their star cloth in New Dock Hall. The units are LED light fed and will save up to 70% more energy than the old ones, whilst also being significantly quieter, lighter, smaller and safer. The old light boxes are also now being reused in the company’s second largest event space, the Royal Armouries Hall.

Moral of the story – it benefits to go green!
Homebuilder raises more than £80,000 for national children’s charity
In 2015, homebuilder, Strata Homes, raised an astonishing £80,000 for national charity, When You Wish Upon a Star. The charity is devoted to making dreams come true for children living with terminal and life-threatening illnesses. Children’s wishes include magical parties, days out and family trips to Center Parcs or even Walt Disney World in Florida.

Strata’s fundraising events that contributed towards this total included a Great Builder’s Bake Off, the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge and a 47-mile bike ride between developments. However, the highlight was the Charity Summer Ball that took place at NEW DOCK Hall with over 700 guests and raised a huge £50,010.91.

The cheque for £80,198.89 was presented to When You Wish Upon a Star Area Manager, Joanne Wright, who said that ‘The Strata team has put a huge amount of effort into raising money for the charity this year. The highlight of the year had to be their fundraising Ball, which was a fantastic night and one which raised a huge amount of money.’

Strata Homes'2016 Charity Summer Ball is just around the corner, on Saturday 16th July and this year they are hoping to raise just as much, if not more money, for Leeds based charity Little Hiccups. Little Hiccups is a parent led support group for children and families with special needs and disabilities.

Take a look at the video to see how Strata and the RAI team transferred New Dock Hall into a successful and glamorous night of fundraising.
