National Coal Mining Museum

The Museum site, with its historic colliery buildings, which date back to the early 19th century, exhibitions, displays and unique underground tour make it an outstanding location. Ideal for all types of conferences, seminars, product launches, presentations, corporate team building adventure days, indoor and outdoor promotions, training, evening functions and private parties. The Museum's conference facilities, in light airy rooms, have been designed to offer maximum flexibility for large and small functions. The Caphouse Suite has a capacity of up to 220 delegates theatre style, or the room can be divided into three, each section seating up to 50 theatre style. Each room, named after local pits, offers the very latest in high-tech visual presentational aids, multiple external data and power points as well as standard conference equipment. Excellent catering facilities can provide everything from a light finger buffet to a three course meal, there is also a fully licensed bar. The site provides a unique location for corporate Adventure Days. These have been specifically designed around a mining theme and concentrate on team building, problem solving and communication skills. Also available on site is the tour of the underground workings exploring the hidden world of coal 140 metres below the surface, with a former miner as your guide, which is free to all delegates. Alternatively just relax and enjoy the surface attractions of the Museum.
