Saint Alban was beheaded on the orders of the roman emperor Diocletain after he refused to give up his faith in Christianity. Today the town is one of the most expensive places to live in the UK and is also one of the nicest as it was voted the replacement for Mayfair, by the English public, for the monopoly here and now edition. The city has two railway stations, one the St Albans Abbey Station providing a service to Watford and the other is part of the Bedford-Brighton line and is called the St Albans city railway station. The city itself is only about a half hour drive from London.
